Halstead Empire Theatre Dementia Friendly Choir

The Choir is open to anyone who is keen or interested in getting involved with some singing and who is living with or supporting anyone living with dementia. The sessions are completely FREE and there will be experienced tutors as well as support from other volunteers from the theatre on hand to ensure your experience is a happy one. We offer a meet and greet, and a break for free tea, coffee and biscuits.

A million people in the UK are expected to be living with dementia by 2025. While there is no cure, there's growing evidence that music can better help and improve symptoms such as depression and agitation but also bring people and their families some much-needed moments of joy.  The Empire Theatre are able to invite you to take part in this very special opportunity to explore the power of how music can benefit those living with dementia. Many people have a special connection to music, and this can be particularly powerful for people with dementia. Evidence suggests music can improve someone's mood, behaviour and wellbeing.
